SAFETY & OPERATIONS MANUAL

READ THIS MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING ANY SCOOTER

1. Understanding This Guide

This manual uses the following signal words to indicate the severity of hazards. All riders must understand and follow these designations.

⚠ WARNING: Indicates the presence of a hazard that can cause   severe personal injury, death, or substantial property damage if the warning   is ignored.

⚠ CAUTION: Indicates the presence of a hazard that may cause minor   personal injury or property damage if the caution is ignored.

2. General Safety Rules

The following safety rules apply to all mobility scooter models. Every operator must review and acknowledge these rules before using any scooter.

2.1 Required Practices

• Read this entire safety manual before using any scooter.

• Always turn the key switch off before getting on or off the scooter.

• Always remain seated while the vehicle is in operation.

• Keep legs on the platform while driving.

• Always drive in a slow, sensible manner.

• Drive slowly while turning and on inclines.

• Always drive straight up and down inclines.

• Drive to a complete stop before attempting to reverse.

• Avoid sudden starts; accelerate gradually.

• Always approach obstacles at a low speed if you intend to drive over them.

• Lock the seat in position during vehicle operation.

• Use the horn to alert pedestrians and avoid confrontations with other mobile entities.

• Be aware of mechanical pinch points, especially during assembly and disassembly.

2.2 Prohibited Actions

• Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity. Exceeding it may cause injury or damage.

• Do not drive over or off obstacles more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) high.

• Do not turn at high speeds, as this could result in tipping.

• Do not reverse down or park on a steep hill or incline.

• Do not sit on the unit in a moving vehicle.

• Do not allow anyone to ride with you.

• Do not operate near stairs, steps, curbs, or terraces where a wheel might drop off the edge.

• Do not operate on streets or other areas with vehicular traffic.

• Do not disengage the brake on a slope.

• Do not disengage the brake while someone is on the vehicle.

• Do not leave the brake release in the freewheeling position.

• Do not remove the anti-tip wheels or modify the scooter in any way.

3. Location of Controls

3.1 Controls (Tiller Console)

The tiller console houses the key switch, throttle control levers, horn button, speed adjustment dial, and battery condition meter.

• Key Switch: Insert key fully to power on; remove key to power off.

• Throttle Control Levers: Push the right side to go forward; release fully and push the other side for reverse. The lever returns to center (stop) when released.

• Speed Adjustment Dial: Tortoise icon = slowest; Hare icon = fastest.

• Horn Button: Requires key to be inserted. Use to alert pedestrians.

• Battery Condition Meter: Shows approximate battery strength when key is inserted.

⚠ WARNING: Do not expose the tiller console to moisture. If it   becomes exposed to moisture, do not operate the scooter until the console has   dried thoroughly.

4. Operating Procedures

4.1 Starting and Driving

For all models, the key switch is located on the handle or tiller. Insert the key and turn to the ON position.

Speed Adjustment

Rotate the speed adjustment dial. Start at the slowest (tortoise) setting.

Moving Forward and Reversing

Pull the right side of the accelerator lever toward you to move forward. Pull the left side toward you (or push the right side away) to reverse. .

Stopping

simply release the accelerator/throttle lever. The scooter will come to a gradual stop and the brakes will engage automatically.

⚠ WARNING: If the key is turned off while in motion, the   electronic brakes engage immediately, causing an abrupt stop. Use this only   in emergencies.

4.2 Brake Release / Freewheel Mode

All models include a manual brake release lever that allows the scooter to be pushed without power.

The manual freewheel lever is located at the top right of the rear section. Push forward to disengage drive and brake systems. Push backward to re-engage.

⚠ WARNING: When in freewheel mode, the braking system is   disengaged. Only engage on a level surface. Remove the key. Stand behind the   scooter to engage or disengage freewheel mode. Never sit on the scooter to do   this. Always return to drive mode after pushing to lock the brakes.

5. Riding Safety

5.1 Basic Driving

• Start on a level surface. Ensure the speed is at the lowest setting.

• Gently pull the accelerator/throttle. The further you pull, the faster you go.

• Reverse speed is slower than forward speed.

• Give wide clearance when turning so the rear wheels clear obstacles.

• Avoid shortcutting corners, which can cause a rear wheel to drop off a sidewalk.

• In tight spaces, stop and then apply power gently while turning.

5.2 Public Awareness and Visibility

When on the road you are a motorized pedestrian. Stay on the sidewalk as if you were walking. Stay visible and approach pedestrians slowly. Keep headlights on, if equipped. Use the horn or your voice to let people know you are coming up if they do not see you. Remember to drive carefully, slowly and leave plenty of room to brake so you do not cause an injury to someone.

5.3 Driving Through Doorways

Approach unfamiliar doors slowly. Determine whether the door opens toward or away from you, and whether it has a knob or push bar. If the door opens away, drive through and allow a self-closing door to close behind you. If it opens toward you, hold the knob or bar while gently pressing the reverse lever to open it, then switch to forward once the door is wide enough.

5.4 Driving on Ramps

Take wide swings around tight corners so the rear wheels clear. When stopped on an incline, accelerate gently. Going uphill, lean forward in the seat. Going downhill, drive slowly. Always drive straight up and down inclines, never diagonally.

5.5 Driving Over Grass, Gravel, and Grades

All models can handle grass and gravel, but always observe the safety limits in this manual. Avoid long unkempt grass. Use common sense and act with caution on unfamiliar terrain.

6. Battery & Charging

6.1 Battery Information

Extended charging is safe and will not overcharge the batteries on either model. Deep discharge can actually damage them.

Battery range depends on driver weight, terrain, temperature, and battery age Charge daily when the scooter is in use.

6.2 Reading Battery Level

The battery condition meter uses a color code: green means fully charged, yellow means draining, and red means an immediate recharge is needed. For the most accurate reading, check while operating at full speed on a level surface.

6.3 Charging Procedures

1. Position the scooter close to a standard wall outlet.

2. Remove the key from the key switch.

3. Make sure the manual freewheel lever is in the drive (pushed back) position.

4. Remove the charger power cord receptacle cover; plug the 3-pin off-board charger cord into the receptacle.

5. Extend the charger power cord and plug it into the wall outlet. Charge for 8 to 14 hours.

6. When fully charged, unplug from the wall outlet first, then from the charger receptacle.

7. Replace the charger power cord receptacle cover.

⚠ WARNING: Never use an extension cord with the battery charger.   Plug the charger directly into a properly wired standard wall outlet. Removal   of the grounding prong can create an electrical hazard.

6.4 Charging Frequency

• Charge batteries daily when the scooter is in regular use.

• Extended charging is safe and will not overcharge.

6.5 Charging Safety Precautions

• Charge fully in a dry location.

• Clean any corrosion on the plug.

• Never smoke or allow an open flame near the batteries.

• Do not operate the charger in a closed-in area or restrict ventilation.

• Remove metal jewelry before servicing batteries.

• Someone should be within range of your voice when charging, in case assistance is needed.

⚠ WARNING: If batteries are damaged and a leak is apparent, call us   immediately. Under no circumstances should you touch leaking batteries.

7. Troubleshooting

Circuit Breaker

There is a main circuit breaker (reset button) located on the battery pack. If the voltage drops too low or the scooter is heavily strained on steep inclines, the breaker may trip and shut down the entire electrical system. To reset, wait one to two minutes, then push in the reset button. If the breaker trips frequently, the batteries may need a load test by an authorized Provider.

8. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

Power-operated vehicles (POVs) may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference from sources such as radio stations, TV stations, amateur (HAM) radio transmitters, two-way radios, and cellular phones. EMI can cause the scooter to release its brakes, move by itself, or move in unintended directions, and may permanently damage the control system.

8.1 EMI Safety Rules

• Do not operate or turn on handheld communication devices (CB radios, cell phones) while the scooter is turned on.

• Avoid using the scooter near transmitters such as radio stations, TV stations, and alarm systems.

• If unintended movement or brake release occurs, turn the vehicle off immediately.

• Adding accessories or modifications may increase susceptibility to interference.

• Report all incidents of unintended movement or brake release to the manufacturer and note whether an EMI source was nearby.

SAFETY REMINDERS

Your mobility device gives you freedom. Use it correctly. Stay alert. Follow these guidelines every time you ride.

Before You Ride

Adjust the Fit

Make sure:
• The seat is locked in place
• Armrests are secure
• The tiller feels natural
• Be sure your feet rest flat on the footplate. Poor positioning leads to poor control.

Check the Battery

• Fully charge before extended use
• Confirm the battery indicator works
• Never start a long trip on low charge. Running out of power in public creates risk.

* Charge overnight (8-14 hrs) daily when the scooter is in use.

Inspect the Scooter or Chair

Quick safety check before each ride:
• Tires properly inflated
• No loose wires
• No unusual noises
• Brakes responsive
• Be sure neutral mode not engaged. Never ride in neutral mode.

Safe Driving Practices

Start Slow

Accelerate gradually. Sudden starts can cause tipping, especially on turns.

Slow Down Before Turning

High speed turns increase rollover risk. Reduce speed first. Then turn smoothly.

Keep both hands on tiller at all times

Always maintain control. Avoid distractions like phones while moving.

Maintain Safe Distance

Allow space between you and:
• Pedestrians
• Cars
• Store displays

***Your stopping distance increases with slippery surfaces, speed and weight.

Use the Correct Speed Setting

Indoor environments require low speed. Outdoor open areas allow moderate speed. Adjust based on surroundings.

Outdoor Safety

Use Sidewalks When Available

Avoid roads whenever possible. If you must cross a street:
• Use crosswalks
• Make eye contact with drivers
• Cross straight, not at an angle

Approach Curbs Carefully

Only use curb cuts. Never attempt to climb standard curbs.

Hills and Inclines

• Go straight up or down
• Never turn on a slope
• Lean slightly forward going uphill
• Reduce speed going downhill

**Keep all 4 tires in contact with the ground.

Check your device’s maximum incline rating. Do not exceed it.

Uneven Terrain

Grass, gravel, and cracked sidewalks reduce traction.
Slow down.
Avoid sudden turns.

Weather Safety

Rain

Most devices resist light moisture but are not waterproof.
Avoid heavy rain.
Dry your device after exposure.

Do not ride your scooter while it’s wet.
